Capital punishment

Capital punishment or the death penalty is where a person is put to death as a punishment for a crime. There are many ways to perform it such as hanging, electrocution, drug injected, etc. On 29th April 2014 a man was executed with lethal injection, but an error happened causing him to suffer for 25 minutes before dying. As well there were several people who were put to death, and found innocent after their executions. Which made many people reconsider the capital punishment. They claim that the death penalty is unfair. Poor people are more likely to be put to death because they cannot afford the high powered defense that a wealthy person can buy. A second view is that police and juries make errors and can be bribed. They believe that sometimes racism can affect the judgment in some certain areas. Whereas the opponents say the murderer killed a person, so he should be killed as well. And if he is killed, he will not have a chance to kill other people. Housing a prisoner for years is very expensive. Some prisons are so overcrowded that some of the less dangerous criminals are being freed so that room can be made for others. Some of those who fully support the capital punishment are the law enforcement and the victims’ relatives. Of course law enforcement is going to push for capital punishment; they made the arrest and don't want to show that they can be wrong. Victims' relatives want closure in knowing that their loved one's death was justified overall. Personally, if without a doubt that a person is guilty, I think that the death penalty should be performed. Psychopaths with no regard for human life should be put to death with the same cold indifference they showed toward their victims. Of course this excludes self-defense and other certain situations.
